christmas time

hello loves.

this past week i went back home to tennessee to be with my parents for a few days.
due to my husband's job, we can not be with either of our families during christmas day.
(he works christmas eve and day after christmas)
so i thought i would spend the week before christmas with them and it was wonderful.
i really wished we lived closer... the 6 1/2 hour drive is never fun.

****

while in tennessee, my mother gave me my christmas present.

to my surprise,
it was her beautiful dress she had gotten in paris, france when she had visited about 14 years ago.
my mother had it made especially for her & i was astonished when it fit me perfectly.
it is probably the most expensive thing i own now.
i am utterly in love with it.
sadly, it will most likely sit in my closet.. due to it being so fancy.

i can not wait to pass it down to my daughter...

(i would like to thank my wonderful mother for taking these pictures.)

Oh, and it doesn't have to sit in your closet. It can be a reason for your husband to take you out more often ;]

  54. I am going to echo the sentiment of everyone else but quite seriously this dress is amazing. Fits you so perfectely. It is quite fancy but I think you could dress it down with a cardigan, a long necklace and some tights and wear it for a night out that isn't necessarily a cocktail party.

<3 You look so great, I love these photos.

  71. oh my gosh, that dress is so lovely and you look absolutely stunning in it! what a special keepsake from your mom, she must have had many moments wearing this creation that brought much joy. one of the reasons i love vintage or pass-downs like this so much is because of the history they bring with them. they are a story themselves, so divine!

i hope you do get to wear it more than you're thinking now. much happiness to you lades and i hope the time spent with your fams carried you through yesterday. we didn't exactly get a lot of time with ours either, it's hard to be apart, especially on Christmas.

pea ess: i LOVE your new profile pic, hands resting over your heart with sunlight streams coming though from above, really beautiful. ♥
