featured blogger: coffee & a cardigan

hello my loves,
today I would love to introduce you to the beautiful Louise of..
coffee and a cardigan
I discovered her blog a few months ago when she first started it and instantly
feel in love with her wonderful blog.
not only is she a lover of dresses but she also has the best accessories to accompany her beautiful outfits.
plus, she lives in the cutest little town in Oregon.

So please welcome Louise and get to know this gorgeous girl.

Louise, tell us a little about yourself?
I'm Louise! I'm an avid reader, singer, coffee-drinker, fashion obsessor, watcher of good and bad television, lover of animals, baker of brownies, wife to Darin, mother to Rowena, thrifter, laugher, classic film advocate, and just a little bit creepy.  I recently moved from the metropolis of Portland to a wee Bavarian village in the valley.

I have always wanted to live in Oregon.
What is your favorite thing about living there?
The Oregon ocean is the best, in my opinion. It's not a friendly ocean; it's mysterious, majestic, and a wee bit frightening.  I could stare into it for hours.

how would you define your style?
I like to dress a little bit vintage, a little bit modern, but always with a sense of humor.  I try not to follow fashion "rules."

have you always loved fashion and why did you start blogging?
I just ended a 5 year stint at Gap and I needed a creative outlet, hence Coffee and a Cardigan.  I have wanted to start one for so long, but I was too insecure about it.  I said to myself, "Lose some weight!" and kept making ridiculous excuses.  I finally got over my fear of rejection and I am so glad I did!

I am a big lover of vintage clothing.
if you could time travel back in time to a certain clothing style, when would it be? & why?
I would go back to the 1940s and wear blousey tops, tailored house dresses with cute collars, close-fitting skirts, and high buckled shoes. There is something about the 40s that embraced the female form without getting skanky.  I would also meet Fred Astaire and marry him, but not before kissing Jimmy Stewart.

as a book lover, what is you favorite book?
"The Man Who Was Thursday", by G.K. Chesterton

other than coffee and cardigans, what are your other loves?
Wearing dresses, playing pranks, good literature, singing, chatting with my parents around the table, shopping, making other laugh, classic film, exercise, cuddling my daughter, coffee dates with Darin, and helping others feel beautiful.

if you had to wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I would wear my 2 sizes too big green scout pants with a black t-shirt, accompanied by my favorite sweater hat, moccasin wedges, and red lipstick. (I might cheat and pack away a day dress or two.)

i love discovering new blogs/bloggers all the time.
do you have any must read blogs at the moment?
Emily Martin's "Some Girls Wander" really inspired me. She doesn't blog very much anymore, but I still peruse her archives.

finally, what fashion trend do you dislike/not understand?
Taylor Momsen raccoon makeup.  I feel like it hides the woman-- I want to see her beautiful face!

make sure you stop over to visit Louise at coffee and a cardigan
she is a wonderful girl and i am so glad we discovered each other.
the blog world is an amazing place.

ps.
thank you all so much for the wonderful Anniversary wishes.
you all are so wonderful.
we had a beautiful day and i will have a outfit post tomorrow.
