(the only downside is that it is a little boy's blazer.. it fits wonderfully everywhere except the chest.)

i could not pass on it and the $1 tag.

i purchased this dress last winter over etsy.
when it arrived i realized i did not love the length (hit about middle of my shin) but it was beautiful.
i sat it aside and hoped to get it to the right length before summer came.
fast forward six months later, it has finally been hemmed.
yesterday i decided to wear it. putting it on i realized that i had shed more winter weight than i had excepted and of course the fit is off.

a couple of weeks ago i headed to louisville, ky to meet my parents for the weekend.
it was nice to get out of west virginia and enjoy familiar faces.
we grabbed a few books at barnes and noble, ate some delicious cuban food, and shopped at some lovely vintage stores.
at the stores i was not having much luck finding anything that fit me right until i saw the rough rack. (a rack filled with tattered dresses)
i saw this dress and the neckline was a mess but with my hair being so long i thought no one would notice & could not resist the five dollar price tag.

i missed you all while i was away..i am always amazed when i take a break from blogging.. how much i miss it.

i just got back from a week in Charleston, SC with my mother.

it is always a wonderful time when we have some together time alone.

plus, Charleston is probably one of the most beautiful cities i have ever been to.

we were complete nerds and enjoyed the history of Charleston the whole time..

we went on a bus tour, went to many museums, and of course enjoyed some shopping.

if you ever get the chance to go, i would not pass it up.

i do not think i will be going again in the summertime.. (it was so humid) but going in the fall is on my to do list.

(ps. these pictures are not from charleston .. i took them right before we left in chattanooga. it was WAY to hot to do any sort of outfit pictures while in charleston)

anyway, here i am in an outfit i wore to work. the bag i got in a NICARAGUAN thrift store when i lived there last year. it really is as authentic as they come! the shirt is a silk blouse i loved and then sold in my store, something i am sorta used to. the shorts, shoes and sunnies are vintage also.. and may be in the store someday!

Greetings, readers! My name is Jo and I blog over at Lost In The Haze.

While Gee visits somewhere pretty I thought I'd show off my darling rollerskates which are still relatively unworn! I am determined to practice rollerskating; though all of my trips seem to result with shrubbery collisions! Nonetheless, here I am in a Jessica Ogden playsuit, skating away!

To practice, I ventured to one of my favourite parks. I live in the so-called "Garden City"; Christchurch, in New Zealand. The roads are quite badly cracked as a result of the recent earthquakes, which made for some funny rollerskating adventures! Luckily, the humidity house (which is quite possibly one of my favourite buildings) survived unscathed, so we were able to take a photograph to share it's beauty with you!

Misikko HANA-Air Blow Dyer Product Review

When the wonderful people at Misikko emailed me to review the Hana-Air Blow Dyer I was excited due to the fact that the hair dyer that I have is 6 years old and is on it's last leg.

I consider myself pretty girly. I enjoy dresses, shopping, and pretending I know what I am doing when it comes to makeup. But, hair...I am totally lost. Most days when I am not blogging I usually let my hair air dry and then toss it up in a messy bun.
But, I do alway dream that my hair will someday magically overnight become frizz free and have volume up the wazoo.

So before I said yes, I went to Misikko's website and began to read the reviews. (I ALWAYS read reviews of products before I buy) On the site it states Best Hair Dyer and the reviews were raving about this bad boy so I defiantly could not wait to try it out myself.

When it first arrived to my house, I opened it and to my surprise not only did I get a beautiful HANA air hair dyer but I also got other goodies for my hair.

Everything about this hair dyer is wonderful. It took me less time to blow dry my hair (which means less damage) and probably my favorite reason I enjoy this hair dyer is it produced less frizz on my hairs than any other hair dyer I have used before.

I give is 4.5 out of 5 stars. I would defiantly recommend this hair dyer if you are willing to shell out the $200.

the husband works retail so usually we get monday off and then some other day.

i thought i would show you what we sometimes do on our day off. (monday is our saturday!)

9:00 am wake up au natural & make some coffee

10:00 am catch up on television

11:00 am get ready for the day

1:00 pm tcby

2:00 pm thrifting time

3:00 pm walk around downtown/outfit pictures

4:00 pm antique mall

5:00 pm traffic

6:00 pm drool over the things i found/mail/dinner

8:00 pm pajama time/catch up on on blogs & emails/skype with my mom

10:00 pm rest and relaxation

if you are wondering about the book, it is about the history of kings and their mistresses. it's pretty good so far..i am history nerd.

it has been over 95 degree's here in tennessee so this little green dress i got on sale from modcloth awhile back has been a lifesaver from the humidity and heat.

365 days ago I decided to finally take the plunge and start a little blog.

I thought I was crazy and really did not think anyone would really care about it.

the last time i can recall that i wore lipstick was in 2001 for my senior prom.
seeing that it may cause injury to your eyes,
i will not be showing you the embarrassing pictures from that day.
i even decided to not wear lipstick on my wedding day & stuck with lip gloss.
so for some strange reason while on vacation i had the urge to buy red lipstick.
(i blame this on all the beautiful bloggers that wear it all the time..i guess i am easily persuaded.)
i like it. it is definitely something different for me.

A month or so ago, Miss Gee won Elsie and I's Red Velvet Art Giveaway and I was lucky enough to have Miss Gee ask me for a guest post while she is on vacation! I suppose I'll give you a glimpse of what my blog is about.

I mostly blog about vintage finds, suitcases, bow ties, avocados, my breakfasts as well as costume designing.

I also sell vintage clothing and my handmade bow ties at my etsy, The Littlest Polly.

I am actually planning a large photo shoot as soon as school is out where my models and I are going to model the bow ties. I am planning a complete shop update with photos of the bow ties- and I am also making them into chokers! Head pieces with bows will also be available at that time.

the lovely gee has very kindly asked me to fill in for her today while she takes a well deserved holiday & spends some quality time with her hubby!

i thought i would share a few photos of my cornflake cake making session at the weekend...they are probably the most simple cakes to make but definitely the most delicious!

here are the instructions:
1) melt a large bar (or two!) of chocolate in the microwave
2) mix in plenty of cornflakes
3) divide the mixture up & put into cake cases
4) add a little chocolate egg on top for an easter touch
5) put in the fridge to set

tip of the day:

do not take pictures near a middle school at about 2:45-3:00 pm.

you will be trying to casually take outfit pictures minding your own business

and then the stop light will turn red...

you will look up and 10 school buses full of middle schoolers will be staring at you.

not only is it awkward but you will walk away with only 2 pictures

and a very happy husband because the photos went super quick.
